After beating out 40,000 contestants to land a spot in the top 200 finalists for Shark Tank, Akeem got cut from the show. While devastated, he pivoted and sought out another celebrity investor, Snoop Dogg. He rapped his way on the stage where he impressed the OG. Snoop helped him land on Shark Tank. This is one story in a never-ending string of setbacks that Akeem never let stop him.

Saved By Sales

Akeem's first lesson post-college exit was learning to sell, and he learned quickly. Akeem became the #1 sales executive at two Fortune 500 companies and used his learnings to grow his company Flipstik Inc. Landing him in Inc Magazine's top 50 fastest-growing consumer product brands.

Scaling on a Shoestring

Akeem had no outside support when he started his business. While in sales, armed only with a high school diploma Akeem strategically saved and learned about investments. After 5 years, he found himself with 6 figures in savings. He quit his job and got scrappy. He taught himself to write a patent and trademarks and designed prototypes from paper and tape. Flipstik was born.

Mindset Matters

When a long-forgotten book magically found its way into Akeem's new apartment, it set him on a path that's allowed him to live his dreams. Akeem came to understand the power of the Mind and the Law of Attraction. The keys to finding purpose and success. When impossible encounters lead to even more impossible opportunities he knew he'd discovered the secret.

Here and Now

In the beginning, Akeem had no network. Its all about who you know and he knew no one. But he put himself in spaces and places where he could meet the right someone. And starting with his first conference it worked. Akeem believes maintaining an expectancy mindset at conferences, is the difference between those who find the conference meh, and those who find it to be a life-changing moment.

Anxiety and Depression

As a kid, he simply thought his stomach was hurting. Akeem never knew he suffered from anxiety and depression. It wasn't until he had to take a leave of absence from work and check in to a Psychiatric hospital that he began to understand his lifelong battle with mental health. While he was prescribed strong, highly addictive medications, Akeem eventually sought a cure, through a higher purpose. In pursuing his dreams he found his invincibility and his cure.
